(1) Authorized types of bait are as follows: (a) Corn (b) Wheat (c) Grains (d) Natural food substances (e) Products specifically and exclusively produced or marketed for feeding deer such as: 1. Pelletized feeds 2. Flavored corn or other grains RULES AND REGULATIONS GOVERNING THE DEER BAIT CHAPTER 1660-01-06 PRIVILEGE LICENSE 3. Mineral or vitamin supplements (2) Unauthorized types of bait are any product or substance, not categorized as (1)(e) above, that is categorized as follows: (a) Processed food products and any product that has been enhanced by the following: 1. Sugar 2. Honey 3. Syrups 4. Oils 5. Salts 6. Spices 7. Peanut butter 8. Grease 9. Meat 10. Bones 11. Blood 12. Candies 13. Pastries 14. Gum 15. Sugar blocks 16. Extracts of the above-listed products. (b) Products that have been modified by the addition of ingredients or by treatment to modify chemical composition, form, or to enhance its aroma or taste. (3) Bait Quantity and Locations Restrictions (a) No more than five (5) gallons, or twenty-five (25) pounds, of bait may be distributed or available for consumption during any 24-hour period at a single bait site. (b) On properties of five (5) acres or less, only one (1) bait site is allowed. (c) On properties that are greater than five (5) acres, bait sites must be a minimum of 500 yards apart, with only one (1) bait site per five (5) acres. (d) Spreader type feeders may contain more than five (5) gallons of bait; however, in no circumstance are open trough (i.e., open basin or open bin) style feeders allowed. RULES AND REGULATIONS GOVERNING THE DEER BAIT CHAPTER 1660-01-06 PRIVILEGE LICENSE (e) Bait shall not be piled, but shall be scattered, thrown or spread such that the bait is distributed evenly across the ground. (4) Scented sprays or aerosols and scent powders are not considered food products or bait.
